Exploring Your Own City

Lately I have been thinking I will go crazy if I do not go somewhere soon. It has been a LOOONG time since I have been out of the country and I haven’t even been home since the beginning of the summer due to my internship, school and of course finances, but I have chosen to make the best of it. I am not a native to Houston so I am still finding out about the many things it has to offer. A few weekends ago, lots of people were out of town and I was left mostly alone. I decided I wanted to go do a few things, and I wasn’t going to let lack of accompaniment stop me. I found out about an event at a bar downtown and I wanted to check it out and Miller Outdoor Theatre was having a show I wanted to attend. I got cute and set out to travel everywhere using the Metro Light Rail. I am not a girl who is used to public transportation, since where I’m from we mostly drive everywhere. Since I live off of the rail and I knew I could reach my destinations via the rail I decided to give it a go alone. Well I certainly got off near where I needed to be but at the wrong stop. I just used the maps feature on my Iphone and walked to Lucky’s Pub near the BBVA Compass Stadium. I decided to sit at the bar and have a bite to eat. I met some very nice people to chat with there watching the games and planning to go to a game at the stadium later. After my new friends left for the game and one friend did join me, I decided to head to Miller Outdoor Theatre so that I could get a good seat for the show. They offer free shows every week. Things from Shakespeare plays to musical acts are performed there; this was a Motown themed musical show. I arrived, took my seat and enjoyed the show. You can explore anything from a new city or country to your own backyard/hometown because there is always something to do that you haven’t yet discovered!

-XOXO
